FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method involves placing an analysed body into a gas medium, mechanically linked with a first standard body into a single unit and measurement of the interacting force between the said bodies. A second standard body is also put into the gas medium linked by a mechanical link, which is collinear to the first mechanical link, with the analysed body and the first standard body into a single unit. The interaction force between the second standard body and the analysed body is determined and, based on the measured interaction forces between the analysed body and the first and second standard bodies, the drag coefficient of the analysed body is determined. The device has a gas medium where the analysed body is put, a first standard body, linked to the analysed body by a mechanical link, a second standard body, linked by a second mechanical link to the analysed body, a first device for measuring force arising in the first mechanical link, a second device for measuring force arising in the second mechanical link, an arresting device and a computing device. The first and second standard bodies are in form of flat plates with the same coating or same degree of surface machining.
EFFECT: increased accuracy and elimination of the need for measuring deceleration of the body, lying the range of small and ultra-small values.
