SURGERY TECHNIQUE FOR XEROTIC CORNEAL ULCER Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC A61F9/07

Abstract RU 2373908 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention concerns ophthalmology and can be used for treatment of xerotic corneal ulcer in children and adults, including ulcer with threatened perforation; deep corneal ulcers; the ulcers that are not be cured with using conservative therapy; and descemetocele. Corneal tissue is prepared including an area of ulcerous defect (UD) by deepithelisation of the UD. A pedicle graft is cut off of conjunctiva with Tenon's cover. Before cutting off the graft, its location and parametres are specified. The prepared UD is closed with the cut-off graft by transferring thereof and fixation of conjunctiva with Tenon's cover edge-to-edge with UD. The maximum efficiency is ensured by fixing the graft with interrupted suturing with intersuturing distance (2.0±0.5) mm followed with temporary blepharorrhaphy.

EFFECT: arranged conditions for epithelium cell transition from encapsulating tissues onto cornea within ulcer defect (UD) and formed adequate healing tissue in combination with accelerated improvement of epithelial layer of cornea outside of UD, eliminated injury of limb stem cells and corneal surface bed outside of UD region, besides maintained tightness of UD coating in formation of cicatricial tissue irrespectively morphofunctional condition of encapsulating tissue components.
