FIELD: mining.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to mining industry, and may be used for prevention of explosions in coal mines. Method for combustion of methane-air mixture includes firing of methane-air mixture at the earliest stage of its arrival to mine tunnel by firing initiators, for this purpose permanently acting firing initiators are installed along longitudinal direction of mine tunnel. Besides in ceiling part, across longitudinal direction of mine tunnel, partitions are installed, which create sections with gas permeable walls.

EFFECT: invention provides for possibility to prevent catastrophic explosions of methane-air mixture in coal mines, and also to control amount and speed of extracted methane by number and periodicity of mini-explosions.
