PRINTING CARRIER FOR WATER-BASED INK AND METHOD FOR DEFINITION OF ITS INK ABSORPTION PARAMETRES Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC B41M5/50

Abstract RU 2375199 C1

FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: printing carrier intended for printing with water-based ink, which contain colored matter, consists of paper base and layer arranged on it surface for ink perception. Ink-perception layer includes porous layer, which comprises inorganic pigment, and also substance that reacts with colored matter of ink. Ink-perception layer possesses such properties, when drop of distilled water with volume of 4 microlitre, which dropped onto surface of mentioned layer, is absorbed at the first stage of absorption with the first speed of absorption V1 (microlitre/sec) during one second after drop, at the second stage of absorption with the second speed of absorption V2 (microlitre/sec) after the first stage of absorption, and at the third stage of absorption, which follows the second stage of absorption, with the third speed of absorption V3 (microlitre/sec). At the same time the second speed of absorption V2 (microlitre/sec) is more than 0.01 (microlitre/sec) and less than 0.32 (microlitre/sec). Absorption of drop at all stages of absorption, from the first to the third ones, complies with the following ratios: 0<V2<V1 and 0<V2<V3, provided that inflexion point between the first and the second stages of absorption is "a", inflexion point between the second and third stages of absorption is "b", final point of the third stage of absorption is "c", amounts of absorbed liquid in points a, b and c are equal to qa, qb and qc, accordingly, time to achieve points a, b and c makes ta, tb and tc, accordingly. Number of absorbed liquid qa in inflexion point a is at least 1.3 microlitre and less than 2.0 microlitre, amount of absorbed liquid qb in point b is at least 2.0 microlitre and less than 2.5 microlitre.

EFFECT: printing carrier for jet printing has optimal fitness for printing both by water-based ink with dye and water-based ink with pigment.
