FIELD: physics; computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to detection of devices in a network environment and determining the relationship between these devices. To identify devices in a network, a process is initialised for detecting devices connected to the network. An identifier (ID) is created, which is associated with the process of detecting devices. New devices in the network are identified by searching in the internet protocol address range (IP addresses), and these new devices are marked with the ID.
EFFECT: invention reduces amount of manual operations when detecting network topologies and managing different devices on a network.
