SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a portable wireless communication device (1) for a wireless communication system. The result is achieved due to that, the wireless communication system has apparatus for loading software update information for the device (1) from an external server (10) during the first operation condition of the device (1), flash memory (4) for storing loaded update information and updating apparatus for starting up and controlling the updating process during the second operating condition of the device (1) in accordance with the update information, stored in flash memory (4). The loading apparatus receives text information, which contains information on the update process for the user during the first operating condition, adapts the text information to setup parametres of the electronic device (1) and saves the adapted information in the flash memory (4). The updating apparatus displays the adapted information to the user on a display when the update process is initiated and during the second operating condition.

EFFECT: updating software of the device (1) from an external server.
