FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: there is offered application of timosaponin B-II (25S)-26-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-22-hydroxy-5β-furostan-3β,26-dyol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1→2)-β-D-galactopyranosidee, the very same prototimosaponin A-III a basic component of Anemarrhenae, optionally of purity ≥90% in making a drug for stroke (apoplexy) prevention or treatment.
EFFECT: timosaponin BII known previously for elimination of 57% of free radicals, relieves neurologic symptoms in rats with cerebral ischemia, reduces extension of cerebral infarction, cerebral oedema, inflammatory damage in cerebral ischemia, improves hemorheology (reduces blood viscosity and aggregation of erythrocytes, increases deformation capacity thereof).
