SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to apparatus for providing device-specific information for at least one field device. The field device is connected by a bus to a device control mechanism. The control mechanism has access to a communication network, from which it extracts device-specific information. The control mechanism independently requests device-specific information from the communication network and independently installs the extracted device-specific information into its system. The communication network contains a server and a data base and the control mechanism requests an identification device number of the said at least one field device stored in the field device or stored outside it in electronic, electronic-mechanical or optical form.
EFFECT: possibility of providing specific information for a specific field device.
