FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of searching for information resources using readdressing from source addresses of information resources to resultant addresses of information resources. In the disclosed engineering solution, the client application includes a client module and when lack of access to the requested information resource is determined, the client application processes the source address of the information resource, as a result of which, when interpreting the source address of the information resource as a pseudonym or the address of the available information resource, the client application accesses the information resource on the resultant addresses corresponding to the source address of the information resource, otherwise if the source address is not interpreted as a pseudonym or the address of the available information address, the client application generates and sends a request containing the source address of the information resource to the BD of the client module and the server of the information system which processes the source address of the information resource with determination and/or search of resultant addresses of information resources corresponding to the source address of the information resource.

EFFECT: broader functional capabilities of accessing resources in a network owing to a readdressing method.
