FIELD: railway equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to absorbing device of freight carriage automatic couplings. Apparatus casing, representing a cup, accommodates pressure cone, pair of friction wedges with bearing plate, pairs of fixed and movable friction plates, and return-support device representing a pack of polymer flexible elements separated by washers. Said device is arranged, together with support plate and wedges, between pressure cone and casing bottom and bolted via the hole in said cone and bottom. Total length of polymer flexible elements in state corresponding to initial tightening of apparatus exceeds, by more than three times, the apparatus complete travel, separating washers being not allowed for. Aforesaid length is ensured under unfavorable variations of tolerances of mating parts with the help of shims. Note here that static force characteristic of support unit, after multiple loading, stays in required range.

EFFECT: stable shock absorbing capacity, longer life.
