FIELD: construction industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for fire protection of coverings of buildings, facilities being built, reconstructed and used, and in which process equipment is located with high degree of fire hazard in case of accidents on them. Method of increasing fire resistance of building covering consists in the fact that in the covering above zones with fire-hazardous process equipment there located are fire protection openings in order to eliminate impact of combustion products on load-carrying structures of the covering; at that, load-carrying structures of the covering are protected against combustion products removed through fire protection opening with fireproof screens located in roof-truss space, which at the same time prevent combustion products from being propagated under the covering beyond combustion zones of equipment, and fire-protection openings are covered with flat plate material damaged at temperature of 160 - 180°C, for example from polycarbonate. Fire-protection is also described.

EFFECT: increasing durability and excluding bulk failure of covering in case of accident and ignition of process equipment with high fire hazard degree.
