SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a credit card having a casing with apparatus for reading fingerprints, providing fingerprint signals which display at least one fingerprint of the card user when at least one finger of the said user is pressed to the apparatus for reading fingerprints. The said casing of the card additionally contains a data medium which stores at least fingerprint data of the card owner and protected data, and fingerprint identification apparatus for activating the said protected data. The casing of the card also has an electrical power supply which powers at least the said device for reading fingerprints. Consequently, there is no need for an external power supply. Thus existing standard card reading systems such as identification card readers, automatic money transfer machines such as automated teller machines and the like can be used with the said credit cards. The complete and independent automatic identification process is carried out before establishing connection relating to the said protected data between the said credit card and any existing automated teller machine, independent of the type (automatic or manual), manufacturer, version or geographic location of the said automated teller machine or use of the said credit card.

EFFECT: avoiding the need to invest in new standard reading systems in order to increase safety of data carried by a credit card.
