SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of preventing unauthorised access to a payment application installed on a mobile payment device. The mobile payment device comprises a processor; an installed payment application; memory and instructions stored in said memory for determining that a user is attempting to use the payment application; requesting the user to input user identification data; receiving user identification data from a data input device which is part of the mobile payment device; in response to receiving said data, providing user identification data and authentication data to the payment application, wherein the authentication data are used to authenticate a valid component of the mobile payment device which receives user identification data; the authentication data differ from the user identification data; verifying the authentication and identification data; if the data are valid, the user is provided access to the payment application; if the data are invalid, the user is denied access to the payment application.

EFFECT: preventing unauthorised access to a payment application installed on a mobile payment device or to transaction data stored in said device.
