SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a system, a method and computer-readable data media for use with a consumer electronic device and a service provider. The system includes a consumer electronic device which includes an agent module and a processor configured to execute the agent module to communicate with the data processing server device of the service provider, wherein the data processing server device is configured to communicate with the consumer electronic device and perform a set of periodic checking mechanisms to ensure that a communication connection between the consumer electronic device and the data processing server device of the service provider is available and active, and includes determining by the processor of the consumer electronic device if there is a subscriber identification module (SIM) card in the consumer electronic device, and determining if data in the secure element of the consumer electronic device have been altered, and determining, if there is a SIM card, if a network connection with the data processing server device of the service provider is available, wherein the frequency of the periodic checking mechanisms is controlled according to a risk profile associated with the consumer electronic device.
