The method involves determination of whether a high speed downlink shared channel (HS-DSCH) is configured for user equipment (UE), and determination of the number of codes used by DPCH and E-DCH channels. The method also involves assignment of DPCH and E-DCH channels branch I and branch Q based on the number of codes used by the DPCH and E-DCH channels and HS-DSCH configuration.
