FIELD: physics; image processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to digital image processing. The method involves the following operations: constructing a gradient map of an input image; searching for circular arcs on gradient maps; searching for local features on the input image and gradient maps; constructing a set of hypotheses of possible face positions; verification of the constructed hypotheses.
EFFECT: increased speed, accuracy and efficiency of operation in conditions of different illumination, dimensions and orientation of a face on an image.
