FIELD: physics; computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering, particularly to indicating computer devices, as well as apparatus which use an operator to enter data into a personal computer in a screen dialog using a "mouse" type manipulator which interacts with a map which has magnetised areas. A computer mouse with a magnetic motion sensor is used together with a specially magnetised mat or pad on which the mouse moves. The mat is entirely made from magnetised rubber or plastic, or has a layer consisting of a magnetic film or similar material.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of detecting movement of a mouse by selecting the form of magnetic sensors and defined distribution of the magnetic field on the surface of the mat, simplification of design.
