METHOD OF FABRICATION OF CURVILINEAR CYLINDERED LOG AND SHAPED TIMBER AND INSTALLATION FOR IMPLEMENTING THIS METHOD Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC B27C5/04 

FIELD: mechanical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: method consists in work-piece cross sawing and milling. There are cross sawn work pieces of width B=(R+a)-(R-a)cosδ/2+2t, where R is axial radius of a curvilinear work piece, δ is angle of segment of the curvilinear work piece, t is allowance for treatment, a is radius of curvilinear cylindered log or half width of curvilinear shaped timber; also sawing is performed with disk or chain saws at angle within ranges -25° to +25° from plane perpendicular to work piece axis. Length of work piece-segment along axis of work piece between two saw cuts is determined by the formula L=(R-a)sinδ/2+(R+a)tgδ/2. Process blind holes d=20-40 mm of length up to 100 mm at angle 90° to plane of ends at the point of axial radius R are drilled at the ends of work pieces. The work pieces-segments are centred and fixed by means of these holes with hydro-clamps of carriages of the milling unit; also the hydro-clamps are arranged at axial radius R from the centre within the range 0.5-10 m. The work-pieces with circumference of R radius are fed to mills of rotary type or concave type for cylindered log of diametre 150-350 mm range, or cylinder type, or shaping, or combined type for shaped timber of 120-350 mm range section.

EFFECT: upgraded quality of curvilinear cylindered log treatment.
