FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: difference of potentials, value of which is less than voltage of liquid breakdown in gap between electrodes, is applied to electrodes of measuring cell. Value i of current is measured between electrodes. Its value is used to identify electric strength E of liquid according to previously produced dependence i=f (E). Device comprises measuring cell with bipolar first and second electrodes, gap between which is filled with specified liquid, and source of voltage. Electrodes are arranged as mutually identical with developed working area. Each unipolar electrode consists of at least one electrode element. All elements of the same polarity are connected to each other by means of conductors and are arranged between elements of another polarity with alternation. Mutually inverted surfaces of bipolar electrodes are arranged at identical distance one from another along their whole surface. Detector of current value is included into circuit of current passage from source of voltage.

EFFECT: provision of possibility for continuous detection of E or its detection in any specified interval of time in remote manual or automated modes, reduced time required for detection of E, increased safety of personnel operation, elimination of electromagnetic noise excitation.
