SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and a device for controlling aircraft. The method and device for assisting piloting an aircraft use the following technique: in order to determine the runway approach line and fly the aircraft on that line using a control system, the main runway approach line (A1) is determined, as well as a corrected line which has an additional vertical leeway (ΔH) relative the flown area with respect to the main runway approach line, which is characterised by category 1 precision approach. The control system guides the aircraft along the corrected approach line.
EFFECT: considerable and efficient assistance when landing in low or zero visibility conditions.
