SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication systems. Bandwidth for transmission to an access terminal is limited by a preset bandwidth which is less than the bandwidth available for transmission to an access terminal, and precoding information relating to the sub-carrier within the limits of the limited bandwidth is provided at the transmitting device. Precoding information relating to the sub-carrier within the limits of the limited bandwidth provides feedback information on channel characteristics of the direct communication line with respect to different sub-bands and can be transmitted in reverse direction over the channel associated with the bandwidth.

EFFECT: improved operational characteristics in a wireless communication system using segments referred to as sub-bands and using precoding.
