FIELD: information technologies.
SUBSTANCE: in method of channel range definition with multiinput/multioutput system (MIMO), at first efficiency indices are defined for multiple ranges. Every range indicates multiple number of data flows for simultaneous transmission via MIMO channel. Efficiency indices may relate to capacity or quality of MIMO channel signal, or to throughput capacity of data transfer sent via MIMO channel. Corrections are applied to efficiency indices for ranges in order to produce corrected indices of efficiency. Corrections take into account losses in the system, for instance losses as a result of error correction code used for data transfer, errors of channel assessment in receiver, changes in noise experienced by receiver, instability of transfer capacity due to control of capacity and/or other factors. Range for use is selected on the basis of corrected efficiency indices for ranges.
EFFECT: improved efficiency for data flow.
