FIELD: electronic engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method exploits the system made up of flat continuous and discrete electrodes with preset potentials -φ and φ to generate electric field in analyser operating area, while internal grounded discrete electrodes produce required potential distribution along X and Y axes thanks to screening effect. For this, discrete electrodes are produced from a set of thin metal plates with their width varying along said axes to produce required potential distribution in operating area. The number of discrete electrode elements is defined proceeding from magnitudes x0 and y0 of operating area along axes X and Y, and required accuracy of potential distribution therein. Proposed method allows generating 2-D linear field in rectangular operating areas at various ratios of magnitudes x0 and y0 in unipolar and bipolar spaces of analysers.
EFFECT: improved operating performances.
