FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method involves manufacture of ingots, their heating to ductility temperature, rolling on pilger mills into process cylindrical crude thick-walled tubes, their rerolling on cold tube rolling mills HPT 450 or HPT 250 into cylindrical tubes-workpieces of required length, heating of end sections of cylindrical tubes-workpieces in induction block to ductility temperature, namely to 1100-1200°C, upsetting-thickening of one or two ends on upsetting machine and mechanical treatment of thickened ends with their further grinding to the specified geometrical dimensions; geometrical dimensions of thickenings of ends are determined from the following equations: Sy=SBK1, Ly=DBK2, where Sy - wall thickness of upset end of tube-workpiece, mm; SB - wall thickness of tube-workpiece, mm; K1=2.0-2.5 - wall thickness growth factor of the upset end of tube-workpiece; Ly - length of the upset end of tube-workpiece, mm; DB - diametre of tube-workpiece, mm; K2=1.5-2.0 - factor for determining the length of the upset end of tube-workpiece.
EFFECT: reducing labour input and coefficient of metal consumption during fabrication of ship's shafts, and reducing their cost.
