DEVICE FOR ARC AUTOMATED WELDING IN MEDIUM OF PROTECTIVE GASES Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC B23K9/16 

FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in various branches of industry for welding butt joints of critical structures of big thickness in all space positions, and also for welding not turning butts. The device consists of a case for protecting gas made in form of expanding shell to a lower part of which there is secured a thermo-resistant sealing padding installed on a welded item, while to an upper part there is fastened a cone shaped apron, the neck of which is fixed on a welding burner. In the case there is an inspection hole with replaceable glasses and there is installed a branch for protecting gas, while a light is installed inside the cast. Additionally the device consists of installed on the shell a spring-loaded V-shaped packing of the point of edges cutting and of the unit for securing to the automatic welder. The shell is made out of aluminium alloy; inside the case there is installed a perforated tube passing along whole perimetre of the shell; the tube is conjugated with its one end to the branch and is blinded on another end.

EFFECT: increased reliability of protection of welding zone from effect of atmospheric air, improved stability of welding and increased reliability of welded connection and structure in whole.
