FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises casting 50 mm-thick slab and features mass flow rate representing a product of speed and ingot thickness, (v × d) 350 m/min. It comprises also turning the slab from vertical position into horizontal position and milling it at miller in slab feed direction after casting machine. In casting slabs from material with increased hardness and carbon (c) content exceeding 0.3%, silicon-containing steel, or microalloyed steel, slab milling is performed with mass flow rate making 280 m/min x mm.
EFFECT: higher efficiency.
