FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of articles with one- or multi-layer clad that features high strength and corrosion resistance. Welded core is produced wherein substrate and clad materials represent different alloys. Clad material in said core has its outer edge not reaching substrate outer edge to form peripheral zone between said edges. Alloy with strength in hot state exceeding that of clad material is arranged nearby outer edge of the latter to completely embrace it to form a seam. Surface of the material in peripheral zone is, in fact, coplanar with clad material surface. Clad material sheet and substrate material sheet is welded in aforesaid zone along said seam. Welded core is subjected to hot rolling to produce hot-rolled strip. In hot rolling, material in peripheral zone inhibits penetration of clad material beyond substrate material edge. In some versions substrate material represents stainless steel while clad material is either nickel or its alloy.

EFFECT: clad core with whatever thickness ratio without using sophisticated process equipment.
