FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry and can be used when preparing a hydrotalcite composition and synthetic resin. Hydrotalcite has the formula given below: [(Mg)x(Zn)y]1-z(Al)z(OH)2(An-)z/n·mH2O, where An- is an anion having valency n, and x, y, z and m assume values which satisfy the following expressions: 0.5≤x≤1, 0≤y≤0.5, x+y=1, 0.1≤z≤0.5, 0≤m≤1, and the hydrotalcite has sodium content equal to less than 100 parts/million, and is used a resin additive. The method of preparing hydrotalcite involves addition of mixed aqueous solution of magnesium sulphate and aluminium sulphate or mixed aqueous solution of magnesium sulphate, aluminium sulphate and zinc sulphate into water, as well as sodium hydroxide and sodium carbonate while stirring and subsequent hydrothermal synthesis at 120-250°C to obtain a suspension and washing it with water to reduce sodium content.

EFFECT: invention enables use of hydrotalcite as a resin additive thereby increasing resin stability and improving its thermal insulation properties.
