FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposal relates to production of communication facilities and can be used for production of quartz light guides. In compliance with proposed method, build-up of porous glass perform is carried out in closed volume at 150-500°C after said closed volume has been subjected to blowing with purified air. Dewatering, overglasing and constriction are performed without removing perform from previous holder attachment position by using platforms moving in vertical direction that interact with perform to remove stop rod. Note that, simultaneously with the start of overglasing, additional quartz adapter is welded to perform power part and perform is reduced to smaller diametre as it is overglased and constricted.
EFFECT: increased yield of finished products, larger length of light guide, use of mechanised adapter removal to rule out perform destruction.
