FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry and can be used to make silica sorbent. A 30% sodium silicate solution is obtained with modulus 2.8-3.7 in demineralised water at room temperature. Aqueous sulphuric acid solution is also obtained at room temperature by adding sulphuric acid with density of 1.835 g/cm3 to dimineralised water. A hot sodium silicate solution in demineralised water is obtained through preliminary pouring demineralised water into a reactor while stirring and heating to 80-100°C and addition of a 30% sodium silicate solution with modulus 2.8-3.7 prepared before hand and maintaining this temperature. Further, sodium silicate solution in demineralised water at room temperature and sulphuric acid solution at room temperature are simultaneously added to the reactor containing hot sodium silicate solution in demineralised water. Sulphuric acid is added in order to attain pH value of 4.5. Filtration, drying, crushing and classification are then carried out.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain sorbent with a fine-grained structure with uniform particle size.
