FIELD: sorbents.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sorbents that can be used in water treatment technologies, in particular for softening of water, and in analytical chemistry to isolate various inorganic compounds followed by concentration, separation, and determination. Method comprising following steps: precipitation of silicic acid xerogel caused by interaction of sodium metasilicate solution with acid solution, ageing of mixture to ripen silicic acid, and slow drying to obtain ripened xerogel is characterized by that thus obtained silicic acid xerogel-based sorbent is placed for 2-3 h into pulse magnetic field created by electric current supplied by power source characterized by voltage 80 v and pulse frequency 3-4 Hz.
EFFECT: considerably increased sorption capacity.
