FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: acoustic transducers are mounted on a bearing ring. The bearing ring is mechanically loaded and acoustic emission signals are simultaneously recorded by the acoustic transducers. The signals are digitised, pre-processed, noise is filtered off, arrival time of the acoustic emission signals is recorded and coordinates of developing defects are determined therefrom. Upon attaining maximum load, the bearing ring is continuously turned by an angle of 180°, acoustic emission signals are recorded taking into account the turning angle of the ring, determining the discarding parametre which is compared with the critical value for the given type and size of the ring, and if the given discarding parametre exceeds the critical value, the ring is discarded.
EFFECT: more reliable inspection and faster operation.
