FIELD: physics, navigation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to navigation systems and elements. According to the invention, a network element (M) for supporting positioning includes a receiver (M.2.2) for generating support data associated with at least one navigation system. The network element (M) includes indication of the navigation system and the selected mode into support data and generates support data in accordance with the selected mode. The network element (M) has a transmitting element (M.3.1) for transmitting support data over the communication network (P) to the positioning device (R). The positioning device (R) includes a positioning receiver (R.3) for positioning based on one or more signals from at least one of the said satellite navigation systems; a receiver (R.2.2) for receiving support data from the network element (M) and a verification element (R.1.1) designed for verifying received support data. The said support data are meant for use by the positioning receiver for positioning the device (R).

EFFECT: obtaining a GPS navigation model directly from satellite transmission, altering these data and distributing them to network terminals in accordance with different standards of use.
