SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electric engineering and may be used in transformer building. Method for monitoring quality of transformer paper insulation, consisting in transmission of photo from transformer insulation by means of optical fibre cables to detect its chromaticity coordinates and calculation of polymerisation extent. Assessment of polymerisation extent is carried out with regard to paper insulation of transformer without transformer disconnection, using methods of non-destructive check. Extent of polymerisation of paper insulation is calculated by means of detection of chromaticity coordinates x and y and their dependence on extent of polymerisation.

EFFECT: reduced material expenditures and time of control.
