FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: video surveillance system has two pairs of optically matched video cameras and a smart test post which includes a set of sensors of parametres affecting technical state of a main gas pipeline, a processing device and a wireless modem. Outputs of the sensors are connected to corresponding inputs of the processing device of the smart test posts, connected to the control input of the wireless modem and additionally has (n-1) similar smart test posts spaced out by a given distance over the main gas pipeline and (n-2) pairs of video cameras. The video cameras are installed along a line which is parallel the main gas pipeline on opposite sides of housings of the posts. Video cameras of neighbouring posts are optically matched with each other. Outputs of (n-1) sets of sensors are connected to corresponding inputs of the processing device of corresponding posts, where n=2, 3. The smart test post also has volatile random-access memory whose input is connected to the output of a microprocessor, while the output is connected to the control input of the wireless modem through a two-way connection.

EFFECT: possibility of video surveillance of the technical state of a large section of a main gas pipeline.
