FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method of operating an aircraft engine based on its technical state involves calculation of periodic elastic-plastic deformation of manufactured main components of the engine, which stabilises cyclic stress in maximum load places of the components during operation. The manufactured main components are automatically fretted so that a certain calculated level of elastic-plastic deformation is achieved in them. When determining the remaining life, the actual engine operating time, accumulated vulnerability and maximum allowable values are determined from stress of automatically fretted main components.

EFFECT: more accurate determination of vulnerability accumulated during operation and remaining life of the engine and its main components due to invariance of accumulated vulnerability to the sequence of stress cycles.
