FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used various fields, e.g. in sealing devices, flaw detection, medicine etc. The method involves obtaining fine-grained magnetite particles through electroless codeposition, stabilisation of the obtained magnetite particles, subsequent dispersion of the stabilised magnetite particles into a low-molecular C1-C3 alcohol or acetone. The magnetite particles are stabilised by adding dibasic carboxylic acid, gradual heating of the obtained suspension to 40-90 °C while stirring for interaction of magnetite particles with the dibasic carboxylic acid, washing the suspension successively with water and acetone, drying the suspension and adding alcohol to the obtained precipitate, after which the stabilised magnetite particles are dispersed. The dibasic carboxylic acid used is terephthalic or adipinic acid or other high-molecular dibasic acids with 6-12 carbon atoms, and alcohol with 6-12 carbon atoms is used to stabilise the magnetite particles.
EFFECT: stable magnetic liquids on C1-C3 alcohols or acetone which do not demix during centrifuging (g=600).
