FIELD: producing magnetic liquids from etching and electroplating process wastes. SUBSTANCE: method designed for synthesizing main component of ferrophase magnetic liquid (highly dispersed magnetite) from etching and electroplating process wastes involves formation of magnetite slurry by co-precipitation of bivalent and trivalent iron ions from solutions, coating of magnetite particles surface with adsorbed layer of stabilizing material, heating of slurry of magnetite particles with stabilizing material adsorbed on them, separation of fraction containing stabilizing magnetic particles from slurry in liquid medium; used as trivalent iron source for producing magnetic ferrophase is sulfuric acid solution of precipitated waste of electroplating department effluent purification process.
