FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technology of extracting pure hydrogen on a palladium membrane from hydrogen-containing gas which is obtained from conversion of hydrocarbons and can be used in power engineering. The method involves diffusion of hydrogen-containing gas coming in after removal of water and carbon dioxide and containing impurities in form of carbon oxide, methane, nitrogen and carbon dioxide residues, through a palladium membrane with extraction of pure hydrogen. The main portion of carbon dioxide and the hydrogen-containing gas from which water has been removed is divided into two streams before reaching the palladium membrane. One of the streams is heated in a heat exchanger using heat released after extraction of hydrogen and the other stream is heated in a second heat exchanger using heat from the main portion of blowout gas from the membrane. Both streams of hydrogen-containing gas are combined again and heated to 400-800°C in a gas heater fitted with a burner, flue gases formed when the other portion of blowout gas from the membrane is burnt in the burner. Further, the heated hydrogen-containing gas is fed onto the palladium membrane in order to extract pure hydrogen and the blowout gas from the membrane is divided into two streams, one of which is fed into the burner of the gas burner as fuel, and the second stream is fed into the second heat exchanger as heating medium.
EFFECT: cheaper production of pure hydrogen owing to low power consumption.
