FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of decontaminating and recycling oily mud and can be used particularly in oil and gas complexes. The invention involves preparation of a decontaminating composition and mixing it with the oily mud. The decontaminating composition is obtained by mixing ground slaked lime (calcium oxide) in amount of 70-75 wt % and spent silica gel - wastes from the gas industry from drying natural gas, taken in amount of 25-30 wt % for 15-20 minutes. The oily mud is mixed amount of water necessary for complete slaking of lime which is defined taking into account that which is present in the mud and taking into account water absorption of spent silica gel. The decontaminating composition is mixed with oily mud in ratio of (1.5-2):1. The oily mud decontamination product is held for 3 days. The decontamination product is fine grey-brown powder with a weak smell which meets environmental safety requirements.
EFFECT: design of an efficient method of decontaminating and recycling oily mud.
