SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of agriculture, the poultry industry, or namely to the quality of eggshells, its strength and can be used in breeding birds, for quality control of feeding laying hens and optimisation of production line of movement of eggs. The method includes fixing the eggs and impact on it with a hit with an impact element at a constant mass from the definite height till destruction of integrity of the eggshell. The height of the fall of the impact element on the egg is increased discretely and the height is recorded at which the shell is destroyed and it is judged on the shell strength on impact. The device contains a test site made in the form of rigid foundation on which a vertical rack is mounted directing the system and the drop mechanism. The rod is installed on the vertical rack with the ability to move. At the end of the rod the guide rod is rigidly fixed. The impact element is installed on the guide rod with the ability to move, having in its upper part a rigidly fixed plate, with its one free end interacting with the plank slots rigidly fixed on the rod.

EFFECT: increased accuracy of measurement, simplification of the device and the process of determining the strength of the shell.
