FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: there is determined condition of strings or pipes threaded connection tightening. The connection consists of a nipple with external threaded part, a metal packing and a packing end on external periphery surface, and of a coupling with internal threaded part, a metal packing and a packing end corresponding to each part of the nipple on internal periphery surface and connected with the nipple. Thus, there are received and transmitted super-sonic waves to and from a row of sections along axis of the threaded connection in at least one part of the internal threaded part of the metal packing and the packing end. Further, there is determined and compared intensity of recorded reflected signals for a row of sections for evaluation of poor or good condition of threaded connection torque.

EFFECT: high accuracy of determination of torque during and upon tightening.
