FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention is a two-beam Doppler velocity sensor whose output information is less affected by changes in reflection properties of the earth's surface. A single-beam Doppler velocity sensor during operation on a vehicle experiences angular displacement of the directional pattern together with the body and also due to the effect of reflection properties of the earth's surface. The two-beam Doppler velocity sensors used employ a beam aligning "Janus circuit" which protects from angular displacement effects. The disclosed version of the solution reduces the effect of changes in reflection properties of the earth's surface on readings of the sensor. Protection effectiveness was tested on serial sensors. Errors due to changes in reflection properties of the earth's surface were reduced by 5-7 times.
EFFECT: more accurate autonomous calculation of coordinates of vehicles using navigation apparatus.
