FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to metallurgy and casting, particularly to composite casts designed for protection of working surfaces of mining and building machines from abrasive wear. The composite cast consists of a ductile base and of wear resistant insertions imbedded into the said base. As a ductile base there is used a polymer material - rubber or polyurethane, or low carbon steel, or low carbon martensite steel of hardness not less, than HRC 40, or austenite steel containing up to 14 wt % of manganese and not more, than 1.3 wt % of carbon. Wear resistant insertions are made out of carbide containing chromium or tool steel preliminary subjected to hot deformation by forging or rolling, or out of alloys containing carbides with parametres of crystal lattice a, b, c and differing one from another for not more, than 60%. When aluminium of magnesium alloys are used as a ductile base, the cast is produced by pouring the ductile base over the wear resistant insertions. Components of cast fixture are made in form of strips with lugs or angles out of low carbon steel. The wear resistant insertions are arranged in the ductile base by rows so, that each successive row of insertions overlaps intervals between the insertions of the preceding row; and/or side surfaces of the insertions are arranged at angle not less, than 20° to the direction of abrasive material motion.
EFFECT: high wear resistance under conditions of high stresses caused by strong impacts and heavy loads on surface of parts; high durability at heavy loads.
