FIELD: agriculture.

SUBSTANCE: method consists of monitoring air capacity and breathability. The basis for control of these parametres is the physical process of establishing the gas balance in respect of the tracer gas - methane between the air in the free pore space of root zone medium and the outside air as a result of diffusion redistribution of dosed by pulsed manner into the outer air of the molecules of the gas from the external environment into the free pore space while maintaining a constant total number of molecules of the tracer gas in hermetically insulated air space of the two contacting air environments. Air capacity is determined based on the condition that the dose of methane is distributed between these environments at the end of the alignment process in proportion to the volume of air. And breathability is determined by the time of alignment. The device consists of a sealed chamber placed inside with a test sample, the pulse dosing device of methane-gas and infrared methane analyser coupled with a camera into the overall air-tight closed air circuit, where with a blower air circulates, entering the chamber and is taken out through the air diffusers.

EFFECT: invention enables to optimise conditions for growing plants.
