FIELD: mechanical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: spindle contains a hollow shaft mounted on rolling bearings inside a rigid casing and mechanically connected to a rotary motion drive, a drawbar and a spring of the socket opening/closing mechanism. The centering clamping socket is positioned on the butt section of the hollow shaft and is designed to be a split bushing (mechanically connected to the drawbar) with an outer conic surface and an axial groove intended for installation of the detachable instrument tail-piece. The split bushing is mounted so that to enable alternate/reciprocal axial motion relative to the hollow shaft. To improve treatment precision and its manufacture technological process simplification the spindle contains an additional centering bushing affixed to the hollow shaft butt end section with the help of a releasable connection. The inner surfaces of the centering bushing butt end parts are shaped as two conic surfaces forming an inner channel of the centering bushing which channel widens towards the bushing butt end parts. The outer surface of the hollow shaft butt end section is shaped as a conic surface coming in contact with one inner conic surface of the centering bushing that adjoins it while the outer conic surface of the split bushing comes in contact with the opposed other inner conic surface of the centering bushing.
