FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: composition contains at least partially gelatinised starch and one or more polymers (P) containing an amine group. Polymers (P) are selected from a group consisting of polyvinyl amine, poly(vinyl alcohol-co-vinyl amine) and polyethyleneimine. Amount of starch in the adhesive composition is approximately between 15 and 40 wt %. Amount of one or more polymers (P) in the adhesive composition is approximately between 2 and 25 wt %. Total amount starch and one or more polymers (P) in the adhesive composition is approximately between 35 and 55 wt %. The composition also contains a polymer or copolymer of one or more ethylene-unsaturated monomers, as well as a polymer which contains an acetoacetoxy group. The polymer or copolymer of one or more ethylene-unsaturated monomers is a vinyl ester homopolymer or a vinyl ester copolymer. The adhesive composition can be a combined composition and can additionally contain an adhesive composition based on a dispersion of a polymer of one or more ethylene-unsaturated monomers. The polymer is a vinyl ester homopolymer or a vinyl ester copolymer. The method of preparing the adhesive composition involves mixing starch and one or more polymers (P) in an aqueous phase at high temperature approximately between 50 and 99°C. The high temperature is maintained for at least one minute. The method of gluing components from wood-based materials involves application of the adhesive composition onto one or more wood-based components and joining one or more component with one or more other components. The components made from wood-based material can be wood chips. A wood-based article comprising components made from wood-based material is obtained using the adhesive composition. The wood-based article can include one or more layers joined by the adhesive composition. The invention enables to obtain an adhesive composition with low viscosity and excellent gluing quality.

EFFECT: high bonding strength, water resistance, reduced bouncing, retention of shape during loading.
