FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises machining of billet on mandrel in multiple repeated cycles each comprising feeding the billet along rolling axis into revolving- and translating-roll stands, deformation in variable-section gages and rolls revolving and flat-and-back stripping. Billet is deformed on rolls with different length of working sections. Rolls runs at different speeds. Relation between roll working sections is directly proportional to that of roll speeds and makes 1.02 to 1.06.
EFFECT: reduced maximum load of mill structural elements, higher accuracy of sizes.
