FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for complete combustion and oxidation of the mineral fraction of combustible wastes in a direct incineration and vitrification apparatus. The method involves the following steps: feeding wastes into the apparatus in order to deposit the wastes onto the surface of a molten glass bath inside the apparatus; incineration and oxidation of wastes on the surface of the glass bath; incorporation of combustion products into the glass during which the glass bath, the combustion products and any vitrification additives added to the glass bath are heated until a paste-like liquid mass is obtained; removal of the mass from the apparatus and further cooling obtain a confinement matrix.
EFFECT: highly efficient, reliable and prolonged confinement of toxic elements contained in initial wastes in a vitreous matrix.
