FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of hydrodechlorinating chloroaromatic compounds through their reaction with hydrogen in a flow system in the presence of a catalyst while heating. The method is characterised by that the catalyst used is a metal-carbon composite which is in form of 3-10 nm nickel particles, tightly and completely coated with a 0.5-2 nm thick carbon layer. The heating temperature is equal to 75-350°C.
EFFECT: invention lowers the reaction temperature for hydrodechlorination of chloroaromatic compounds while preserving catalyst efficiency and stability.
